RPE Fit Testing: Ensuring Safety with Every Mask

What is Fit Testing?
Fit testing is a mandatory health and safety process that ensures a tight-fitting respirator (such as an FFP2, FFP3, or half-mask) seals properly on the wearer’s face. A correct seal is critical to protect against airborne hazards like dust, fumes, or viruses.

Why is Fit Testing Important?

  • ✅ Ensures effective protection from harmful particles
  • ✅ Meets HSE and legal safety requirements
  • ✅ Verifies the correct mask size and model for each user
  • ✅ Boosts confidence among staff and healthcare workers

Types of Fit Testing We Offer:

  • Qualitative Fit Testing: A pass/fail test based on the wearer’s ability to taste or smell a test agent. Ideal for disposable masks (FFP2/FFP3).
  • Quantitative Fit Testing: A machine-measured test (PortaCount) that calculates the seal effectiveness, ideal for reusable respirators.

Who Needs Fit Testing?

  • Healthcare workers
  • Construction and industrial staff
  • Lab and research personnel
  • Anyone required to wear tight-fitting RPE as part of their role
